Desk Rehab - Procrastinators AFTER Party!

I have to say that the accountability works. I was able to successfully complete this little project (that I have been putting off for weeks) in two short days. I suppose it was the task of sorting through & emptying out the messy-beyond-all-reason well used drawers that intimidated me and kept me from completing this project sooner. But I am very glad that I did.

Here again is the before......

And Here are a few of the afters .....

I sanded the whole thing down with a palm sander (LOVE that thing!) and painted her up with
Behr's Seaside Sand (LOVE this color!)

Then, I distressed her a bit. And I spray painted the handles with Krylon's oil rubbed bronze (as I was forbidden strongly encouraged by Hubby not to buy new drawer pulls) .

The paint and spray paint I had on hand, so they were FREE. The desk was part of a $70 bedroom set that we purchased, so how to put a price on that other than CHEAP...

And I'm linking this project up to Melissa's Procrastinator Party at The Inspired Room!

  3. Perfect! You did an amazing job! It has that "Pottery Barn" look to it now. Painted furniture is the best.

    Very impressive!

  11. I am so glad that you did not buy new handles, because the contrast between the handles and the desk are what really catches the eye! Great job!

  18. That looks great!! I love white painted furniture! I've been going crazy painting all of my wood toned furniture around here, and it looks so much better lighter and brighter! Oh, and I LOVE your coat rack, as well. That is so cool! You did a great job! And it doesn't look like anyone else's coat rack. That's what I love about making your own things, rather than just buying what they have at the store. No one else is going to have one exactly like yours! Oh, and I so wish that I could have a PB entry bench, or even an old church pew, but alas, I don't have a big enough entry. :( But at least I have a cool coat rack that I made myself. :) Thanks for visiting my blog, and have a great day!!

  19. Good job! Thanks for the hint on the krylon paint...i didn't even know they made an oil rubbed bronze, and have made do with other things. Will definitely check that out! (See if you had gotten new pulls....we wouldn't have learned that ;).
    Lord bless you!

  20. I think that desk looks AWESOME! I think those repainted drawer pulls are great...I'm not sure I'd change them out anyway. They add tons of character!

  21. Your blog is simply amazing! I found your link through A Soft Place to Land last week and have been addicted to your site ever since. Hard to believe that so many different and absolutely wonderful blogs link up in one place every week.

I have so much to learn. :)

  22. Did you use a high gloss or did you seal it with something? I've got a similar desk and these pics made up my mind - I'm definately painting it!
